Court Permission for Medical Procedures on Child

The Family Court in Re:Jamie [2013] Re:Jamie [2013] FamCAFC 110 (31 July 2013) recently looked at when it is necessary for parents to obtain permission from the Court before having a "special medical procedure" carried out on a child. In this case, the procedure in question was Stage 1 and Stage 2 treatment for a 10 year old child diagnosed with Gender Identity Dysphoria - commonly called transsexualism.
